2000 Subaru Legacy B4 Blitzen – Porsche Design Collaboration – Twin Turbo – 5-Speed Manual – AWD – Grade 4 – Coming Soon
What happens when Subaru's performance engineers team up with the design studio founded by the man who designed the original Porsche 911?
You get something most Americans have never even heard of.
Introducing the 2000 Subaru Legacy B4 Blitzen, an extraordinary Japanese-market performance sedan born from a collaboration between Subaru and Porsche Design.
And this isn't just another Legacy with an aftermarket body kit.
This is a genuine factory-produced Blitzen, featuring exclusive styling developed specifically for the model by Porsche Design, combined with Subaru's twin-turbocharged boxer engine, all-wheel drive, and a proper 5-speed manual transmission.
Finished in its original Premium Red exterior, this example has 124,010 kilometers (approximately 77,056 miles) and carries a Grade 4 Japanese auction rating with an Interior Grade B.
Coming soon to Prestige Imports Tampa.
THE STORY BEHIND THE BLITZEN
By the late 1990s, Subaru had already established an international reputation for its turbocharged boxer engines, sophisticated all-wheel-drive systems, and success in rally competition.
But Subaru wanted to create something different.
Something that combined Japanese performance engineering with the sophistication and design philosophy of a European sports car.
So Subaru turned to Porsche Design.
Founded by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the designer responsible for the original Porsche 911, Porsche Design had built its reputation around a simple philosophy: exceptional design should combine beauty with function.
Together, Subaru and Porsche Design created the Legacy B4 Blitzen.
Announced in December 1999 and introduced for the 2000 model year, the Blitzen was based on Subaru's already impressive Legacy B4 RSK performance sedan.
But its appearance was transformed.
Porsche Design developed exclusive front and rear bumpers, a distinctive front grille, a unique rear spoiler, and specially designed 17-inch alloy wheels.
The result was a Japanese performance sedan with a distinctly European design influence.
Even the name had meaning.
"Blitzen" comes from the German word for lightning, an appropriate name for a turbocharged sports sedan with all-wheel drive.
This wasn't simply a styling exercise.
It was Subaru demonstrating what could happen when Japanese performance engineering met European industrial design.
And more than 25 years later, the original Blitzen remains one of the most interesting collaborations in Subaru's history.
TWIN-TURBO PERFORMANCE
Under the hood is Subaru's legendary EJ20 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, equipped with a sequential twin-turbocharging system.
Factory-rated at 280 PS (approximately 276 horsepower) in 5-speed manual specification, this was a seriously capable performance sedan when introduced.
The sequential twin-turbo system was engineered to deliver strong performance across a broad operating range, while Subaru's all-wheel-drive system helped put that power to the pavement.
And unlike many luxury-oriented performance sedans of its era, this particular Blitzen has the transmission enthusiasts want.
A 5-speed manual.
Three pedals, twin turbochargers, all-wheel drive, and a chassis developed around Subaru's performance heritage.
This is the kind of driving experience that has become increasingly difficult to find in a modern sedan.

MORE THAN JUST A RARE SUBARU
What makes the original Blitzen special isn't simply its horsepower or its appearance.
It's the story behind its creation.
At a time when Japanese manufacturers were producing some of their most memorable performance vehicles, Subaru created a sedan that blended its rally-inspired mechanical engineering with the design influence of one of the most recognizable names in automotive history.
The Porsche Design elements weren't added by a previous owner.
They were part of the vehicle's original factory identity.
The distinctive bumpers, spoiler, grille, and wheels were designed to give the Blitzen a character entirely its own.
And underneath that unique appearance remained the mechanical heart of a genuine Subaru performance sedan.
A twin-turbo EJ20.
A 5-speed manual transmission.
All-wheel drive.
And a wonderfully understated four-door body.
This is a car for someone who appreciates the engineering behind the machine just as much as the badge on the trunk.
DOCUMENTED MAINTENANCE HISTORY
One particularly important detail on this Blitzen is its documented timing belt replacement.
According to the Japanese auction documentation, the timing belt was replaced at 94,427 kilometers (approximately 58,674 miles).
With the vehicle currently showing 124,010 kilometers, that means the timing belt replacement was recorded approximately 29,583 kilometers (18,382 miles) ago.
The auction documentation also notes the presence of the owner's manual and maintenance records.
For an enthusiast considering a 25-year-old twin-turbo Subaru, documented maintenance is an important part of the vehicle's history.
JAPANESE AUCTION HISTORY & CONDITION
This 2000 Subaru Legacy B4 Blitzen was carefully sourced through the Japanese auction system and carries a Grade 4 condition rating with an Interior Grade B.
We purchase Grade 4 to 4.5 condition vehicles only. In the Japanese auction system, Grade 5 represents near-new condition, while Grade 4 reflects a clean, well-maintained vehicle with light wear consistent with age.
The auction inspection notes cosmetic imperfections consistent with the vehicle's age, including minor scratches, interior wear, and some paint and trim imperfections.
For enthusiasts seeking a first-year Blitzen with the desirable 5-speed manual transmission, original Premium Red finish, and documented Japanese auction history, this is an especially interesting opportunity.
